The first issue will have a supplemental story written by Harvey about the character Zenzi, a revolutionary who starts a riot in the first issue of Black Panther. The Black Panther comics have been doing well with Ta-Nehisi Coates writing. The Marvel comic will follow the story of lovers Ayo and Aneka, two former members of the Dora Milaje, the Black Panther's all female security force. ![]() Coates cited that he felt it important to have women write women's voices. And now Coates has recruited writer Roxane Gay, author of Bad Feminist, and poet Yona Harvey to write a brand new series entitled World of Wakanda. And to top it off Black Panther is getting the big screen treatment with a film directed by Ryan Coogler ( Creed, Fruitvale Station) and cast members Lupita Nyong’o and frequent collaborator Michael B. Then there's Run The Jewels being involved. There is of course the obvious reboot of the comics with Ta-Nehisi Coates, a national correspondent at The Atlantic, and author of Between the World and Me, a National Book Award winner, writing the series.
